Things Change; People Change

Hey, long time no see! The first semester of college flew by and it’s been crazy, here is an update on the Life of Katie!

As I sit here attempting to write a paper that’s due tomorrow, all I can really think about is how much life has changed from last year. Looking back at this time last year, I just moved out of my house and into my grandparents. Life was rough, but honestly, it was for the best.

Now, a year later and I am living my dream. I am living in New Jersey- close to both New York City and the Jersey Shore. I am going to college- where I have met the most amazing friends ever, and I am following my dream of studying pre-med. I’m not quite sure what could be better than that.

Just recently, one of my close friends said something that really hit me. He told me “you’ve changed, and I’m not sure I like that.” Thinking about how different I am from who I used to be, I can’t really say that I’ve changed that much.  I still wear the same style of clothes, my hair is basically close to the same color, and my attitude is definitely still there.

I can say for sure I know there is one thing that has changed and I honestly would rather be this way than not. I have never been happier. Yes, life does throw a curve ball every once and a while, but hey I wouldn’t want to have it any other way.

At the end of the day, it is obvious that I am not going to be the same person I was in high school. I don’t live in the same town or even the same state. I don’t attend one of the 14 colleges in South Dakota that everyone goes too. But most of all, I don’t still hang out or go to school with those who I grew up with. So if that’s what makes it seem as if I’ve changed then alright I’ve changed. But that does not mean I am not the same person I used to be.
